Dr. Sha Liu is a Test Development Researcher in the English Language Research group at the British Council and Co-Convenor of the European Association for Language Testing and Assessment AI for Language Assessment Special Interest Group (EALTA AI SIG). She holds a PhD in Language Assessment from the University of Bristol, where her research focused on automated speaking and writing evaluation, automated feedback generation, and the application of eye-tracking measures to understand learner engagement. Dr. Liu specialises in leveraging Generative AI tools to enhance the personalisation, scalability, and learning potential of automated feedback systems for both educational and commercial applications. She has published in leading language testing journals, presents regularly at international conferences, and her work has been recognised with multiple awards. She serves on the editorial advisory board of Language Assessment Quarterly, the Early Career Research Board of Assessing Writing, and the editorial board of Research Synthesis in Applied Linguistics.
